A commitment to action…
Reach Within has been selected by the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) for its feature project: A Commitment to Action. In 2020, Reach Within committed to establish a regional Caribbean Center of Excellence in Child Development in Grenada to improve childhood outcomes through caregiver capacity building. In Grenada and the Caribbean at large, many children experience disruptive factors such as poverty, substance misuse, and different forms of violence, compounded by the intergenerational effects of colonialism and slavery and the ever-present threat of natural disasters. These can have serious negative impacts on children's future development, wellness, and resilience. To build the capacity of Grenadian and regional professionals to address these challenges, Reach Within will refurbish and manage a center which will host educational trainings, expert consultations, caregiver self-care retreats, and periodic symposia for caregivers and other professionals who work with children. The center will also host therapeutic activities, focus groups, and life skills training for children and youth. Through this commitment, Reach Within expects to impact 460 professionals and 500 children and youth.
